- 1. You should first check to make sure that the EpiPen® is prescribed for the person who will use it and then remove the device from its carrier tube or package.
- 2. It is important to check the expiration date of the Epinephrine. You should not use the EpiPen if the liquid is cloudy or it has expired. The liquid should be clear.
- 3. Check that the patient has no obstructions at the injection area such as a phone or keys. The location area is around the outside middle of the person's thigh.
